Neither Gergely Karácsony nor Olga Kálmán would be able to beat István Tarlós if mayoral elections were held this Sunday, according to a 1,000 respondent public opinion poll conducted by Nézőpont Intézet on behalf of Magyar Nemzet.
According to 71 percent of Budapest residents, István Tarlós would win if they were to vote now.
According to the opinion poll conducted in Budapest by Nézőpont Intézet, while István Tarlós is considered suitable for the lord mayoral post by nearly two-thirds of Budapest residents (62 percent), only about a third hold the same opinion of Gergely Karácsony (35 percent) and Kálmán Olga (32 percent).
The race is also balanced with regard to which opposition politician would have the best chance of defeating the reigning Mayor as both Gergely Karácsony (27 percent) and Olga Kálmán (27 percent) are considered to have such potential by a quarter of Budapest residents. Róbert Puzsér has been mentioned by 8, and Gábor Kerpel-Fronius by 4 percent of respondents.
István Tarlós would defeat all of his rivals, even one-on-one. In the case of Gergely Karácsony and Olga Kálmán, at least 10 percentage point more would vote for István Tarlós (50 vs. 36 percent and 48 vs. 38 percent). The reigning Lord Mayor would beat Gábor Kerpel-Fronius by an even wider margin (54 vs. 22 percent) as well as Róbert Puzsér (55 vs. 18 percent).
